I John 4:15 NKJV
“Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.”
I John 4:15 NKJV
What does it mean to confess Jesus as our Lord and Saviour? It is a question that can help to define our confession.
If we don’t define what it means to have Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, then we can slip into a religion instead of living the life of Christ.
The first part is God abides in us. What does that mean and how does God abide in us.
When we confess Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, we are acknowledging that God HAS redeemed us from the curse of the law, paid the penalty of sins and gave us a new life.
It is to acknowledge that we have been made righteous by Jesus and not by our own efforts or works.
God came to save mankind because mankind cannot save themselves. It is a gift of God to mankind to be made righteous through Christ Jesus.
The second part of confessing Jesus as Lord is we abiding in God. What it means to abide in God?
To abide in God means that we come into agreement, to be at peace and accept the fact that no longer we who live, but Christ Jesus who lives in us.
This means we don’t believe our feelings, we don’t agree with our circumstances and we don’t believe anything else accept God and His word.
It means we believe that we are a spirit being and have been made new with the Divine nature of God.
To abide in God means we follow what God has instructed and be led by His Holy Spirit.
People who truly confess that Jesus as their Lord will clearly be seen by the way they live and the way they respond to circumstances.
Lives that abide in God will display God’s glory, God’s goodness and His presence everywhere they go and in whatever they do.
Let us abide in God as God has come to abide in us through Christ our Lord.
Blessings
