Acts 9:5 NKJV
“And he said, “Who are You, Lord?” Then the Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads.”
Acts 9:5 NKJV
Saul was persecuting the believers of Jesus because he thought by doing that, he was serving the Lord God Almighty.
When Saul had encountered Christ, he realised that all this while he was against the One he is longing to serve.
A bright light shone from heaven around Saul when he was on the road to Damascus and Jesus spoke to him that he is persecuting Him.
For the believers, this is an awesome statement. Jesus said that every time Saul is persecuting the believer, Saul is persecuting Jesus.
Jesus identifies Himself with every believer as one. Jesus lives in us, therefore, anyone who is against us for the sake of the kingdom is against God.
This is very important and very critical for us to understand that we don’t accuse falsely and make things hard for those who are serving the Lord because we might be finding ourselves kicking against God. A fight that we can never win.
It is also important for us to know that if we are being persecuted for His kingdom's sake, they are not coming against us but against God.
If God is for us, who can be against us? We can be assured that no weapon formed against us shall prosper and every tongue that is rised against us shall be condemned.
When Saul realised that it was Jesus, Son of the living God, that he was persecuting, he changed and started serving Jesus.
We all can be encouraged that no matter what the enemy tries to do or plan, we are in Christ, protected and secure.
We must not get out of the security and protection Jesus has given to us. Don’t take things into our own hands and get out of His plans. We must let God be God, leave the judgments to Him and let Him lead us all by His Holy Spirit.
Let us keep serving the Lord knowing that we are one in Christ Jesus our Lord.
