Psalms 119:16 NKJV
“I will delight myself in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word.”
Psalms 119:16 NKJV
To delight means to look at, to meditate, to obey, to walk accordingly as a person is consumed by it.
The psalmist speaks of the desire of loving God’s word. Treasuring it more than anything because out of it comes God’s blessings.
When a person is in love, they will do anything to be in the presence of whom they love.
No entertainment can distract them, no party or function can pull them away. Everything else seems to be of no importance for someone who have fixed their eyes on the person they love.
This speaks of the value the psalmist puts in God’s word over everything else that is out there.
The psalmist displays the hunger and thirst for God’s word more than anything else.
If we know the sure benefits of having the word of God in our lives, we will delight ourselves in His word.
Knowing the benefits that comes from delighting in God’s word, the psalmist says “I will not forget Your word”
This shows that the psalmist takes measurements, steps and diligence to look out for things that can steal away the precious word of God.
Making sure to cut off things that can steal away the desire and love for the word of God.
If we delight ourselves with the word of God, our eyes will be open to the realm of God’s glory and power.
The secrets of God’s kingdom, power and glory will be revealed to those who delight themselves and desire to live by His word.
We need to constantly guard that nothing will come in between God and us. Nothing comes in between the word of God and us.
God’s word is the seed that bring about God’s supernatural life. The Holy Spirit of God takes the word and brings it to life in our mind and body.
Let us delight ourselves in the word of God and pray in the Holy Spirit that we will be alert and do not forget God’s promises.
Blessings
