John 1:6 NKJV
There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
John 1:6 NKJV
John was a forerunner to prepare the way for the first coming of Christ the Savior of the world.
He was sent by God as a prophet to turn the hearts of the people to God, baptising them as they repent of their sins.
John was a sent one because God had a purpose for his life and also because of his willingness and obedience to follow God's leading to do something so different from the cultures of his time.
What leads John the Baptist to his obedience to follow God's direction is his upbringing.
Zechariah and Elizabeth are from the priestly and had John as a miracle baby. Growing in that environment would have contributed immensely to his obedience to follow God.
Yet know that no matter what the exposure we had, it is up to us to make those decisions to follow God or not.
God had already established His part by calling us into His kingdom as part of His body.
We don't need another confirmation, another word to seal it or a prophet to clarify that to us.
God has already given the marching orders to His church. God has already sent His angels before us.
God has already supplied the resources we need to accomplish His purpose.
But for Him to send someone to do it depends on a willing and obedient soul that will not only say here I am Lord but step out in faith to do it.
There can only be the ones sent when believers are willing and obedient to step out and do what He has called us to do.
It is in the going that we hear God's direction.
It is in the moving that we get caught up with His movement and experience His glorious power.
Mustard seed faith is all God requires from us so that He can move the immovable.
Small little steps of faith is what we need to encourage each other in order to grow into doing His purpose.
Let us be bold to take the first step of faith and trust that God would lead us on the next steps.
