Romans 12:9 NKJV
Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.
Romans 12:9 NKJV
Paul is encouraging every disciple of Christ to genuinely serve the Lord our God out of love. We can serve one another out of pity, guilt or legalism.
When we engage ourselves to do good, our motivation should be because we love God and have been blessed by His love.
We care because we have been cared for by God, we sacrifice for each other because God had sacrificed His life for us. Therefore, we can and should serve one another with true love.
Love is not self-centred, love is not about personal gain and it is not about making a name for our good deeds.
Love is about helping, guiding and encouraging someone to reach their full potential in God. Love celebrates the achievements of others and acknowledges their gifts.
Love does not just dislike something evil but love hates, rejects and cuts away from the things that are not in God's likeness.
We too need to exercise God's kind of love by hating things that are not of God. We need to build up within us a resistance toward anything that is evil.
Therefore, we can serve the Lord and care for each other with the love of God by clinging to the goodness of God.
Let us love and serve each other with the genuine love of God.
Blessings
