Colossians 3:17 NKJV
And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
Colossians 3:17 NKJV
When Paul said whatever you do in word and deed, he is referring to the list of things he talked about in this chapter.
There are more than ten things that Paul taught the believers on how to live in Christ and more than ten things that Paul taught on things that we should not to be part of.
These are not sets of commandments or rules that Paul wanted the believers to tick in their boxes instead he is teaching that the believers ought to manifest these attributes as a lifestyle.
Paul is teaching the believers about living our life as a new creation. God's children do not need the natural things to live a supernatural life.
We are supernatural beings who have been transformed in the spirit that has changed the soul and body in Christ-likeness.
Everything that Paul is teaching is anchored in Christ and the finished work of the cross. So as Christ was and is so are we to live today.
To do it all in the Name of Jesus simply means to do anything in the authority and approval that God the Father has granted.
This means not everything that we think we want to do or what we like to do can be taken in thanksgiving. It has to be what the Name of Jesus represents, carries and authorised for us.
There are many believers doing things in Jesus name and thanking God for things totally not in Christ.
One of the best ways to identify what is of God and what is not is by aligning it to the fruit of the Spirit. That is of God!
Anything that is not in line with the gifts and the fruit of the Spirit is NOT of God.
If we keep ourselves in the boundary of God's love, grace, authority and power then our lives will be filled with thanksgiving.
Let us not get caught up with our own desires but let us get caught up with His desires for God loves us and has given the best for us in Christ Jesus our Lord.
