Acts 6:5 NKJV

And the saying pleased the whole multitude. And they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte from Antioch,

Acts 6:5 NKJV

Stephen was appointed in the early church to wait on tables, to help out with the food distribution and to take care of the needs of the widows.

There was a need and the leaders appointed seven of them to take care of the issues they were facing.

Stephen did what was needed to be done and continued his life with Jesus, preaching the gospel, saving souls and healing the sick.

Stephen did serve the church's need faithfully yet Stephen did not let that work define God's call over him as His child.

As a child of God, Stephen is filled with all the riches of heaven and Stephen is blessed with every spiritual blessing to preach the gospel, heal the sick and cast out the devils.

The same goes for us today. What we do in churches and our serving in ministry is needed and wonderful.

Yet the most important thing as a child of God is that we are all empowered by the grace of God to preach the gospel, heal the sick, cast out the devils and raise the dead.

We need to surround ourselves with like-minded people who can help stir God's riches in us.

Don't waste time with people who stir up the flesh, get worked up with anger, stress and strife. Instead, be worked up in God and be with like-minded people who want to see what God sees through us.

We must not let any other work take the place that Jesus has commissioned us.

So let's continue to preach the gospel, heal the sick, cast out the demons and raise the dead in the mighty Name of Jesus.

Blessings
