I Peter 5:8 NKJV
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
I Peter 5:8 NKJV
Believers are called to be vigilant not only every Sunday, or at every prayer meeting or when attending church events but at ALL times.
The enemy is looking for an entrance to get in to distort our heart and mind, to get us to take our focus from God.
The scripture calls us to be sober. "Sober” translated from the Greek word means to be calm and collected, to have good sense, good judgement and wisdom according to God.
We need to stand collected, in good judgment and in God's wisdom against every thought that comes our way.
What the enemy wants to do is to strike fear by what we can see, hear and feel but God's word and promises build faith, hope and confidence in our God who never fails.
We have one enemy and that is the devil. People are not our enemy, satan is. We are wrestling against principalities and powers of darkness.
We need to be vigilant to know who is the real enemy and take our place for the kingdom of God.
God has placed weapons in our hands to pull down strongholds and the powers of the enemy. If we don't take authority over the situation, the situation will take over us.
The battle is won in the spirit first then God will lead us to do things in the natural.
To be vigilant and sober is to be in line with God and His promises. To be in tune with the Holy Spirit every day. Living a lifestyle of worship and not fear.
Let us continue to set our eyes, ears, heart and mind on God and His promises.
