Luke 18:14 NKJV
“I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
Luke 18:14 NKJV
Jesus talked about a man who stood on his own work and boasted about it and the other man needing God’s grace and mercy.
Jesus said the one who is justified is the one who humbles himself to the grace and mercy of God. The one who is condemned is the one who stands in his own righteousness.
What Christ has done for us is the good news. To believe and to live by that news is living in God’s grace and mercy.
Often we think that that those who boast of self-achievement are pride and self-righteousness.
But the truth is anyone who is beating themselves down because of what they have failed is also wrong.
This is because they also live by their own works and stand on their own failures.
To humble ourselves before God means to accept what Christ has done for us.
We need to make a choice every day to live by what Christ Jesus has established for us.
To believe that we are blessed with every spiritual blessing, saved, healed, restored and set free in Christ is true humility.
To disbelieve what Christ has done and deny His gifts toward us is pride.
True humility is to believe in Jesus Christ no matter what the natural situation looks like.
Let us put our confidence, trust and faith in what Jesus has done for us.
Blessings
