Song of Solomon 2:15 NKJV
“Catch us the foxes, the little foxes that spoil the vines, For our vines have tender grapes.”
Song of Solomon 2:15 NKJV
Solomon’s fiancee composed the song of love and looked forward to marrying Solomon.
Here she spoke about catching the little foxes that spoil the vines. She had to speak carefully and not to let any small thing to ruin the beautiful celebration that awaited them.
Interestingly, she asked to catch it. To catch it meant to put an end to the malice of the foxes' intention.
It means to eliminate any possibility of damaging the plants.
She emphasised the 'little' to highlight to Solomon to pay careful attention to details to guard their relationship.
Jesus, our Saviour, and the Lover of our life has laid down His life for us.
We have to take caution not to spoil what Christ has laid down for us.
We must catch the little things that spoil our love relationship with Jesus.
Big things are easy to spot to get rid of but small things can sneak in and start to spoil the relationship we have received from the Lord.
A religious spirit is one of the biggest culprits in spoiling our relationship with Jesus because it can be so familiar, so close to the truth.
Just a small tweak here and there would lead us so far astray.
What God has given is to be received with thanksgiving but a religious spirit would drive us to work to get it.
Both are aiming for love but one tries to get it, and the other just receives love from the Giver.
It might be so small and so insignificant but it will cause the whole building to be torn down.
We need to know the truth to catch the lies. Jesus is the truth that has been revealed to us.
Know Him, know God through His word and revelation as God’s Spirit brings enlightenment to us.
Let nothing come in between Jesus Christ and us. Love Him with all of our hearts.
Blessings
