Matthew 11:3 NKJV
“and said to Him, “Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?”
Matthew 11:3 NKJV
John the Baptist proclaimed that Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. He even sent two of his disciples to follow Jesus Christ.
After Jesus jump-started his ministry in power and glory, John began to doubt. There may be so many reasons for John to doubt. He probably doubted because Jesus did not establish His kingdom the way John thought it would happen.
Therefore, John sent his disciples to ask Jesus if He is the Christ. He was looking to be comforted and he was looking for confirmation of things he already knew.
Jesus told his disciples to tell John the Baptist what they have heard and seen Jesus did.
Jesus reminded John the Baptist of the prophecy which was found in Isaiah 45. Jesus fulfilled all of those prophecies.
When John the Baptist needed comfort and assurance, Jesus did not send him a hug but reminded John of the word of God which he lived by.
Jesus reminded John to keep believing in the word of God, not according to what he saw, (the bad happening), not according to what he felt, and not even according to what he was going through but according to His word.
So often we as believers crave for comfort and a hug instead of what we really need.
A hug and comfort are good but God’s truth is the one that is going to raise us up in God’s power, in glory, and set us all free.
Let us anchor our lives in God, be led by His Spirit and His word. Do not doubt God no matter what happens around us.
