“Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?”

There was an epileptic boy who often threw himself into danger and hurt himself.

The father of this boy brought his son to the disciples to cast the spirit out and healed his son but they couldn’t do it so they brought him to Jesus.

Jesus cast the spirit out and healed the boy.

The disciples wanted to know why they could not cast the spirit out. This shows that the disciples tried and followed what they saw Jesus did in the past.

Jesus said that they did it without putting their complete trust in the power of God. There were some unbelief lurking in their hearts.

Faith is complete assurance and confidence that whatever God has said will come to pass.

The disciples had faith but it was mixed with unbelief.

It is important that we too search our hearts and know do we really believe God and believe what He has done or do we just do it what we see others do.

Doing things without believing is not going to give us the results but believing in the power of God completely will.

Many have done the right thing but did not see the results that were promised.

Perhaps it was mixed with fear, a little doubt, anxiousness, and pride.

Jesus taught us to have a simple faith like a child trusting the father.

We too should trust God without reasoning, child-like faith to completely believe in Christ and then do as He has said.

Let us all build our assurance in Christ Jesus, and put our faith completely in Him and in His power.
