Matthew 5:6 NKJV
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.”
Matthew 5:6 NKJV
Jesus said blessed are those who hunger. Hunger drives a person to drop everything and focus on that which is going to feed them.
Hunger will silence everything that we thought is important in life and amplifies that which is needed for the soul.
The people who hunger for righteousness are people who would prioritise, disciple, and bring themselves into an agreement with all that Jesus Christ has done for them.
Righteousness means to be in the right standing with God. This verse shows how a born-again believer makes every move, adjusts, and comes to alignment with the finished work of Christ.
To be filled with God’s goodness is not the problem, to receive healing is not an issue but to bring our hearts and mind into an agreement with Christ is a journey we all need to be focused on.
We say we are hungry for God but still heeding other voices, prioritising other things, and are not focused on achieving it for God..
If we don’t eat for a few days, we can feel the hunger, and pain, and everything within us will do everything to get some food.
No matter how beautiful or how wonderful things can be around us yet we have no food, then we are not going to give any attention to it.
Spiritual hunger can only be fed by spiritual food. God’s word is our spiritual food and flowing in the Spirit of God is what strengthens our inner man.
We need to cultivate a hunger for righteousness by opening ourselves up to the word of God and to the Holy Spirit.
We need to get our appetite for the word of God. One of the best ways is by praying in tongues for it stirs our hearts and minds to the things of God.
Let us be mindful that we are a spirit being who needs to be fed spiritually by God’s word and strengthened by His Spirit.
Blessings
