I Samuel 16:11 NKJV
“And Samuel said to Jesse, “Are all the young men here?” Then he said, “There remains yet the youngest, and there he is, keeping the sheep.” And Samuel said to Jesse, “Send and bring him. For we will not sit down till he comes here.”
I Samuel 16:11 NKJV
David was not numbered among the chosen ones to be presented. David was left out of the important event, a prophet coming to their house.
David was left isolated from the rest of his brothers, taking care of the sheep.
We don’t hear anything about David complaining about what he was doing or about his isolation from the rest.
David was secure in himself in the Lord and he loved the Lord.
Many believers would see themselves as not qualified to do what Jesus has done and because of whatever conditions they are in, they disqualify themselves.
The best qualification we can see in this passage that gets a standing welcome from the prophet of God is a heart after God.
We may be shy of our jobs, our houses, our cars, and our qualifications, and thinking because of all these, we can’t really serve the Lord.
But the truth is, no one is qualified for God. It is God who qualifies us by His grace, mercy, and favour.
God searches the heart of men and wants to find those hearts who are after Him.
Just like David, we may have been rejected, looked down upon, isolated, and so on but we need to be secure in who we are in God and give our hearts to Him.
When our hearts are after God, all things will come into place no matter how many obstacles may come against us.
Therefore, let our hearts go after Him and live in His glory.
