Isaiah‬ ‭53‬:‭5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.”

God’s word shows us that Jesus Christ was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities and the chastisement for our peace has been paid by Him. Therefore, by His stripes WE ARE HEALED.

Transgression in Hebrew means “ pesha ”. To violate, rebel or breach of command.

This took place when the first Adam violated the trust, commands and instructions given to him to govern the world.

Iniquity is the violation of the rights or duty that God has given to mankind. Chastisement is the punishment due to those who violate God’s trust, His commands and fail to carry out the rights.

Mankind was living under this fallen image as their identity. That causes us to present ourselves daily as sinners needing a saviour.

Praise be to our Lord Jesus Christ who came to earth to pay the price for our transgressions, our iniquities and setting us free.

Jesus took the punishment for our fallen nature and restored us back to His image and likeness.

Therefore, we are no longer sinners but saints in Christ Jesus. We present ourselves daily as children of God who HAVE BEEN WASHED by the BLOOD of JESUS.

We no longer need to put up with pain, sickness and disease. We no longer need to live in condemnation and with sin-consciousness.

We need to rebuke those sicknesses and diseases to get out of our bodies.

We no longer need to be guilty of our past but start to live in God’s righteousness, power and love.

Let us live out everything that Jesus paid for. Let us honour and value the work and sacrifice of Jesus by living through His work.
