Luke 3:9 NKJV
And even now the ax is laid to the root of the trees. Therefore every tree which does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.”
Luke 3:9 NKJV
John preached a baptism of repentance. Repentance is turning away from dead works and dead deeds to the true ways of God that give life.
John stresses the importance of cutting away the old dead things that do not bear fruit for not only it will fail to bear fruit, but it will hinder the whole tree from being fruitful.
There are many areas in our lives that do not bear fruit and it hinders our growth in God. We need to be intentional in cutting that off from our lives.
Every habit pattern that is not good, every negative word that we speak, every self-centred, greed and pride needs to be constantly cut off.
If we allow dead branches to be part of a tree, that disease from the dead will start to spread and cause the whole tree to become bad.
The enemy wants to corrupt the ways of God but if we allow the word of God and the Holy Spirit to keep pruning us, we will be a healthy tree.
Time is short to let the dead things hang around us. Cutting off is a drastic decision. Though it will cause pain yet it will certainly bear great fruits.
God only wants the best for His children and God wants to see fruitfulness in every area of our lives. This is so that we can reflect His glory and power every day.
Let us yield ourselves to God and yield to the process of pruning for productivity in our lives.
