Luke 20:2 NKJV
and spoke to Him, saying, “Tell us, by what authority are You doing these things? Or who is he who gave You this authority?”
Luke 20:2 NKJV
The chief priest and the scribes who were the religious leaders asked Jesus who permitted Him to do what He has done?
Here is Jesus doing what the scribes and priests supposed to be doing as their duty that is teaching about the kingdom of God.
The scribes are questioning not because of any good intentions but because they were put to shame. They talk, teach but never take action on what they were supposed to do.
Religious people always challenge, question and press charges on those who obey God while they do nothing about the situation.
Jesus was sent by God and He did according to what His Father sent Him to do. Jesus was not hindered by religious people and rituals of religion but kept doing what His Father in heaven sent Him to do.
We too will be questioned, challenged, persecuted and ridiculed by the religious yet we must obey God and do what He has sent us to do.
Jesus has given us all authority and power and we should heed His voice to go and preach the gospel, heal the sick, cast out evil spirits, raise the dead, set the oppressed free and baptise them in the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
If any authority asks questions by whose authority, we should say with the authority we have received through Jesus Christ our Lord.
We as a church need to be ready to face challenges that will come from many different ways. When it comes, we must stand firm in the great commission we all have received in Christ Jesus.
Let us be strong in the Lord and the power of His might.
Keep doing and living in Christ our Lord.
Blessings,
