John 1:19 NKJV
Now this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?”
John 1:19 NKJV
This is the question that not only the world asks but we ourselves at some point in our lives have asked this question.
When asked, John did not reply by speaking of his earthly identity. He did not say that he is the son of Zachariah or his mother was Elizabeth.
He did not tell them of his birthplace or his upbringing but he spoke of his purpose in the kingdom of God.
He said he is the one crying in the wilderness to prepare the way for the Lord. John knew his purpose in the kingdom of God and his identity is to do the will of God.
God has a purpose for each one of us. As we seek God and know God we will know what is God's good, acceptable and perfect will of God.
Our identity changes from an earthly, natural identity to a supernatural identity when we receive Jesus into our lives. We become citizens of the kingdom of God and become children of God.
Now we are heirs of the kingdom and have a purpose to fulfill here on earth. Our supernatural identity carries a supernatural responsibility.
Just like John the Baptist, we too have a destiny to be fulfilled. The more we see ourselves as a supernatural beings in Christ, the more easier we can identify our calling and purpose.
Let us live out our supernatural identity in and through Christ our Lord.
Blessings
