Mark 7:6 NKJV
“He answered and said to them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: ‘This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me.”
Mark 7:6 NKJV
Jesus spoke these words to the Pharisees and Scribes. Jesus told them that they were hypocrites.
What were the Pharisees and Scribes questioning Jesus about?
They questioned the disciples of Jesus that they were not following the tradition and not observing the customs.
The life of the Pharisees and Scribes has become a ritual that has lost its true meaning.
They washed their hands and cleaned their cups and utensils so that they would be clean and safe for themselves and others.
It was not to accuse one another but to save each other.
If they really want to live out those principles then they would come around and help others to wash their hands, and not come around and accuse them.
When the tradition and rituals become a law, it will condemn people and will not assist in saving them.
Jesus on the other hand, came preaching all day, right through the sabbath because His intention is to save others so that none should perish.
Jesus said they worship with their lips but their hearts were far away. This means they have learned to observe the word of God but made it a ritual, not a lifestyle.
Every word of God is meant to bring out the life of God in us, not condemnation or accusations but conviction.
When the word of God and His instructions become part of our lifestyle, then we will be to others as Jesus was to others.
When God’s word is revealed to us, it has to go from the mind to our heart. That is when our lives begin to reflect what we believed.
It will be His word that we follow and our lifestyle becomes the epistle of God.
Jesus teaches us that to truly worship God is to live out His heart and be a blessing to each other.
Teaching, caring, correcting, encouraging and building each other in the love of God.
Let our lifestyle be a worship unto God and may our works reflect His glory, power and His love.
Blessings
