Hebrews 4:1 NKJV
“Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it.”
Hebrews 4:1 NKJV
Paul spoke of entering His rest, which is living the promises of God.
In chapter 3, Paul is talking about the reason that the first generation did not enter the promised land is due to unbelief.
They heard and heard but did not hear, they saw and saw but could not see the rest that was before them because of UNBELIEF.
To enter the promises of God is by BELIEVING God’s word. The scripture is very clear that we can miss it by if we don’t believe.
This is very important. What remains is for us to enter His rest. The work is done and the promise is given by God but to enter it is our responsibility.
Rest - take responsibility to be at peace with what Christ has established for us.
Rest - take responsibility to live according to the spirit and not the flesh
Rest - take responsibility to love in the freedom of God and not bound by law.
Rest- take responsibility to dwell in God’s presence and in His system, that is by faith.
Paul says that we must take heed or let us fear that we must not miss the opportunity to enter His rest.
The matter is choosing to enter God's rest and remain in Him or stay where we are at our current situation.
To believe is the end result of the decisions that we have made.
Therefore how to believe according to His rest?
God’s promises which are the word of God produces faith when we keep hearing it. Faith is believing that He is the rewarder of those who seek Him.
Therefore, we can have godly belief when we give ourselves to God’s word and His Spirit.
And by believing we can enter and live out the image of God in us.
Let us continue to set our heart and mind in Christ and exercise all that God has revealed to us.
