‭‭Galatians‬ ‭2‬:‭12‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“for before certain men came from James, he would eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision.”

‭‭Galatians‬ ‭2‬:‭12‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Paul spoke to Peter about Peter’s conduct with regard to the gospel of Christ Jesus.

Peter, being the most prominent man for the gospel was shaken and diverted his stand because of fear of those who kept the law.

Peter who walked on water with such boldness started to sink because he took his eyes off Jesus.

Here in this verse, He took his eyes off the grace of God because of fear of those who practice Judaism.

Peter went to Cornelius's house and the whole family was baptised with the Holy Spirit as Gentiles.

Peter knew there was no longer separation between the two for in Christ, we all have become one.

We now become one under the law of the Spirit and life in Christ Jesus.

Fear has caused Peter to get involved with the practices of Judaism.

The Jews who believed in Christ, who practiced Judaism wanted the Gentiles to practice the law plus Jesus and not Jesus only.

What Peter was doing here would have distorted the truth that Jesus Christ had established if Paul did not correct Peter.

We thank God for Paul who brought Peter back from that lie and deception and Peter the apostle agreed with Paul.

Peter knew the vision he had concerning the Gentiles when God showed him in a vision the animals that Jews don’t eat but God said to kill and eat them.

Today are we having Jesus plus something else?

Are we observing rituals, kosher food law and other things to accompany salvation?

If we do that, then Christ died in vain. It is either Christ and all that he has established or no salvation.

Don’t let fear drive us away from the grace of God.

Don’t let fear alter our behaviour and don’t let fear be the reason we follow Christ.

Let the love of God towards us be the reason we follow and live in Him.

Blessings
