Acts 21:14 NKJV
So when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, βThe will of the Lord be done.β
Acts 21:14 NKJV
Paul knew through the Holy Spirit of his destination and knew through the Spirit of the things he would suffer.
The believers who prophesied gave the same prophecy about what will happen when he goes to Jerusalem.
The believers who loved him did not want him to be caught and to suffer persecution. Therefore, they did not want him to go.
The prophecy was right but their interpretation is from their personal views and their feelings which was contrary to what the Lord was leading Paul.
At the end of all their persuasion of wanting Paul not to go, they end up praying the will of the Lord to be done.
Trials and tribulation are part of our lives of serving the Lord. Avoiding them might be going in our own direction instead of God's direction.
Paul was firm in what God has shown him and determined to finish the race fulfilling all that God had in store for him.
Prophecy is given not to avoid persecution and trials but to prepare us ahead to be bold. So that we are not shaken when we face them.
We also must be careful not to hinder someone's journey of faith even though it may seem like many challenges await them.
We have to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit even if it means walking right through in the middle of the storm.
Sometimes it is painful, uncomfortable and cost much, but we must be confident that He who calls us is faithful and He will do it.
Let us see, hear, do and be led by the Holy Spirit and not by our own understanding.
Blessings
