Matthew 16:25 NKJV
For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.
Matthew 16:25 NKJV
Jesus is speaking about the opportunity for a divine exchange, from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of His light, from death to life and from temporal to eternal.
This impossible divine exchange had been made possible through the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The reason for Jesus being the only way for this divine exchange is because He is the only one who died for the sins of the world and paid the penalty for the sins of all mankind.
Therefore, Jesus is offering this divine life which is through Him by giving and taking hold of His life.
To lose our life means to choose to live in the new image and likeness that we have through Christ.
This means we don't analyse things, circumstance and situation according to the earthly dimension but according to what we have in Christ.
We cannot have the divine exchange if we want to hold on to the old life, the old way of thinking and the old way of seeing ourselves.
The new life cannot take effect if we want to hold on to the ways of the world instead of the ways of God.
We need to intentionally lose our way of doing things and live our lives that are not according to the old way. We need to intentionally renew our mind and heart according to the new life we have in Christ.
When we do it for Christ's sake and not for our own personal and selfish gain, then we can enjoy the abundance that flows from Christ.
Everything that the world promises will pass away but only Jesus and His promises will not pass away.
Therefore, those who hold on to Jesus will lose the temporary pleasure that the world offers and gain eternal blessing for eternity.
Blessing
