Luke‬ ‭7‬:‭8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“For I also am a man placed under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”

Jesus marvelled at this centurion of his knowledge of authority and his absolute confidence in it.

Firstly, the centurion knew that he had been appointed by his superior and had been given to him authority over his jurisdiction.

Because of that authority, he is able to function without any doubt and without trying to earn the authority.

The centurion knew and believed that he could function fully in that authority.

The centurion recognised that Jesus could not do these signs and wonders without first being given the authority to do so.

For this reason, Jesus marvelled at his faith. God has given authority to us through Jesus Christ.

Do we have the confidence of this centurion about the authority that was given to us?

The authority that we have is from the Creator of the universe. We have been given authority over all the power of the enemy.

The reason the enemy prevails is because the church and the believers are not exercising their authority.

We need to take authority over everything and begin to do things according to God’s promises.

Let us stand in confidence with the authority and power that we have received from Christ Jesus our Lord.
