Matthew 4:4 NKJV
But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”
Matthew 4:4 NKJV
After Jesus fasted for forty days, the enemy came and tempted him. There are many kinds of temptation, some may be tempted to eat something that we shouldn't and others may be as drastic as being tempted to kill.
This temptation that Jesus faced is directed by the enemy to steal away His rights as a child of God. The enemy's question was "If you are a son of God?"
Jesus answered and said it is written. Jesus was hungry at that time but He was deciding and making choices according to the word of God and not according to how He felt.
His hunger was real, especially after forty days without food. Yet Jesus put the word of God above His feelings and above His physical needs.
The word of God shows us who we are in Christ. It reveals what we have received from God and our position in this world.
The best weapon we use to counter every form of the works of the enemy that come our way is the word of God.
If we spend time with the Holy Spirit and allow God to teach us His Word, we will develop the best defense and best attack force that there is.
We would not be easily offended, hurt, or fall into temptations if we fill ourselves with the knowledge of who we are in Christ.
We won't be able to defend or protect our true identity if we don't know who we are in Christ. Therefore we would easily be swiped away by the philosophy of the world.
God wants His children to know Him and to know who we really have become through Christ.
These are important truths that will help us stay on the foundation that Jesus built.
Let us spend time to know God so that we will discover the power, authority and dominion that has been restored in us through Christ Our Lord.
