“And it shall be that every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.’”

Peter preached the gospel of the kingdom after the lame man was healed and the people who gathered were amazed.

Peter told the listeners that it was by the power of Jesus that this lame man was healed and restored.

Peter then in this verse said that if we don’t hear Jesus and follow Him, we will be utterly destroyed.

Peter is not saying that Jesus is the destroyer. Peter is saying the only way to be saved from being destroyed in the world of evil is Jesus Christ.

Jesus is the lifeline that is thrown out to help people to get on to safety.

Peter is saying if we don’t get hold of this lifeline, we will be swept away by the evil one.

But if we hold on to Jesus who is our lifeline then nothing will harm us. Nothing can destroy us when we are in Christ Jesus.

Therefore, it is important that we hold on to the truth of what Jesus taught us. We need to hear Him and what His Spirit reveals to us.

Our life depends on obeying the word of God. To obey is to believe what Jesus has done, given, and planned.

Let us trust Jesus and follow Him all the days of our lives so that we will flourish and live in His abundance.
