Proverbs 2:5 NKJV

Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.

Proverbs 2:5 NKJV

Chapter 2 verse one to four speaks that if we receive the word, we should then treasure God's commandments, incline our ears to God's wisdom and apply our hearts toward Godly understanding. Then we will understand the fear of the Lord and gain knowledge.

The fear of the Lord is not about being frightened of God or to have a fear towards Him.

The fear of the Lord simply means to dislike everything God would dislike and like what God would like.

It is to have a reverence towards God and His word above all else.

The fear of the Lord is to acknowledge that God and His promises stand above every idea, thoughts and plans of men.

When we get to know our Lord, the glory of God over us and His power in us, every part of us will bow in reverence of His greatness.

The key is to know God and His ways by practising His life daily. The terminology of practising Christians means believers who live life practising God's word intentionally.

Every word of God is to be practised. Practise makes things perfect.

We need to acknowledge that we need to practise as a believer in Christ. Not just listeners, not just seekers but also doers of the word of God.

It is important to know that we will not be able to achieve anything good except from Christ, our Lord.
