Luke 12:31 NKJV
But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.
Luke 12:31 NKJV
Living in a world full of rights and desires causes us to lose our grip on our true identity. It leads us to making decisions based on our lust for things, our ambitions, our worldly rights and not on who we really are.
It is important for us to remember and identify ourselves as people who have a King. A King would want his people to live according to His kingdom and live in the prosperity of His kingdom.
When Jesus tells us to seek the kingdom of God, He is telling us that if we seek to follow God as King of our lives, then we would enjoy everything in life according to the abundance of His kingdom.
To follow a King and to obey Him is to take on His instruction, honour His position and believe He has the best interest for us as His people.
God's Kingdom has its own governance according to His principles and precepts. To be part of God's kingdom is not just saying we belong to God but to follow His leadership, follow His principles and His governance.
Seeking the kingdom is finding out His governance, His principles and His precepts. All these are found in His divine word, the Bible.
If we seek to know what our King is like, what culture He wants to have, the desires of His heart and do them, then we have to seek God and His kingdom.
A kingdom cannot exist within a kingdom. There cannot be two kings in a kingdom. Therefore, we have to let go of our own kingship and let God be our King.
