Mark‬ ‭6‬:‭20‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“for Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just and holy man, and he protected him. And when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly.”

‭‭Mark‬ ‭6‬:‭20‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

King Herod honoured John the Baptist. The king listened to his advice, protected him, and cared for him.

King Herod was blessed and comforted by John the Baptist in many ways. But King Herod bound John in prison because of his wife Herodias.

Herod entertained his flesh, and his desires and got caught in this mess. What he entertained had bound him to lose the precious people of God.

Herod then gave himself to be entertained by Herodias's daughter. And out of that joy of being entertained, Herod made the wrong decision.

That decision caused Herod to lose the one whom he honoured, the one whom he sought for wisdom and guidance.

What Herod entertained cornered him to lose everything and in the end, he did not leave a good legacy behind.

We need to count the cost before giving ourselves to be entertained by the things that are out in the world.

Some things are essential to life to give ourselves to but some things are unnecessary which bring death and destruction.

What are we entertaining today? Do we entertain fear, doubt, unbelief, hurt, and pain? Or do we entertain faith, hope, believing in Christ, restoration, healing, peace, joy, and love of God?

We will be cornered by what we entertain. It is best to be cornered in Christ and His abundance than be cornered to lose everything.

We need to learn what brings blessings and what brings curses before we give ourselves to those things.

We give ourselves to God, to His word, His power, His kingdom, His authority, His peace, love, and joy.

And let us fix our eyes, minds, and heart upon Christ Jesus our Lord.

Blessings
