II Corinthians 2:17 NKJV
“For we are not, as so many, peddling the word of God; but as of sincerity, but as from God, we speak in the sight of God in Christ.”
II Corinthians 2:17 NKJV
Paul testified that we as ministers of God’s word are not peddlers of His word.
Peddlers in Greek means a huckster. It is like a seller giving false information about the product for the sake of selling it.
Paul said that we are not boasting about God’s word because we want people to believe it.
We boast about the word of God and hold it as the final authority because it is the truth.
We share the word of God out of sincerity, which means we ourselves believe and live by the truth.
We are not to preach a polished sermon to sell our product but a grounded truth that sets us free.
Some use the word of God to motivate their own agendas and their personal goals but we preach Christ so that people be set free and live in the abundance of God.
Everything that we bring should be in the sight of God. It means to say that we don’t mix things up as we go by each day but we carefully bring ourselves in the light of His word and walk in them.
It is very important that we lay aside our feelings, our issues of life, and our circumstances and be committed to focusing on Who God is and what He has prepared for us.
God’s word doesn’t need to be sugar-coated, for it is sweeter than honey to those who sincerely need it.
We let the word of God judge our thoughts and the intentions of our hearts.
