Isaiah 58:6 NKJV
βIs this not the fast that I have chosen: To loose the bonds of wickedness, To undo the heavy burdens, To let the oppressed go free, And that you break every yoke? Isaiah 58:6 NKJV
God's desire for us is not to be self-righteous but display His righteousness to everyone. Here in Isaiah, it clearly questions the intention of our fast. Why we do what we do and for what purpose we are doing it. The religious leaders in the days where Jesus was are more concerned about their pride and status rather than loving and caring for one another. Today in our churches we sometimes see the same culture developing which is not healthy. We need to continue to detox everything that is harmful to our beliefs in Christ. It is important that we deny self and rest in Christ and His works. Let everything we touch and do be acceptable unto God. That means we become God-centred and not self-centred. We become givers and we love lives around us. We strengthen our self in Him and in His word. The kind of activities that God is looking forward to seeing in and through our lives is to set people free from bondage to the restoration of lives. Let us continue to hold fast to the truth and bless the Lord forever. Blessings Ambrose Francis
