Acts 15:10 NKJV
Now therefore, why do you test God by putting a yoke on the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear? Acts 15:10 NKJV
Peter spoke out to settle the conflict that was taking place among the believers. This conflict started when men started to determine who can be saved and who can receive the blessing. When the church fails to be the life of God to the world, we become inward-looking and cold towards people. When the loud, the quiet, the poor, the rich, the broken, the rejected, the hurt, the wounded and the addicted walks in to be saved, do we judge them or do we embrace them as a church? When the Gentiles were giving their lives to Christ, some believers opposed that idea, not realising they were opposing the plan of God. Things that are happening in the church or in the lives of the people today may not be to our liking and if we oppose that, we might be turning away God's plan. Who is qualified to receive salvation? The answer is in what Peter gave - everyone. It's not determined by what cast or family line they are born into but who they will accept as their Lord and Saviour. We must not be a burden to those who are labouring in the kingdom of God by what we like or don't like. Instead, we should stand alongside, joining and supporting to expand the kingdom of God. Let us join in to spread the good news to all people from those around us and to the ends of the earth. Blessings Ambrose Francis
