Jude 1:5 NKJV
“But I want to remind you, though you once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterwards destroyed those who did not believe.”
Jude 1:5 NKJV
Jude reminded the believers about the Israelites who came out of Egypt.
God made a way for the people to come out of bondage but the people chose to be destroyed by their own disobedience.
Jude is telling believers to earnestly contend to stay in the covenant that they have received through faith in Christ Jesus.
This is so important for all believers to understand.
God lead the people out of Egypt but due to the freedom of choice could not lead 'Egypt' out of their soul.
God would not force anyone to receive Him or His blessing.
It is given to all mankind but only those who receive it by faith can enjoy it.
To contend for our faith earnestly is to earnestly hold on to all that Christ has done for us.
We must not be people who only believe but put into action in every area of our lives what we believe.
What we know about Jesus and what He has done for us can be twisted and manipulated by the enemy by mixing law with faith.
It is easy for people to fall victim when the enemy uses scripture to point to the law and bring people back to bondage.
Paul explains this in his letter to the Galatians when he told them who is it that whom they were bewitched to believe another gospel.
Why go back to what kept them in bondage when freedom in Christ liberated them from bondage.
This is a daily reminder to keep our faith in Christ, to believe all that He has done for us and be vigilant in doing what Christ did.
Let us hold fast our faith in all that Christ has done for us and keep every lie away from our hearts and lips.
