Jude 1:1 NKJV
“Jude, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, To those who are called, sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ:”
Jude 1:1 NKJV
The way Jude introduced himself in his letter speaks a lot about his identity and his purpose.
A bondservant of Christ means the one who has been redeemed, transferred from the kingdom of darkness into God’s marvellous light.
He did not bring his earthly identity first but his spiritual identity in Christ and the kingdom he operates under.
He did not neglect who he is or his brothers in the natural but his spiritual family in Christ.
Jesus said on the cross who is my mother and my brother but those who do my will.
This is not a rejection of a family member. Instead, we are to embrace our true identity that is far more powerful, united and in one accord.
Jude said in his address that his identity and all who believe in Christ have been called, sanctified and preserved by our Heavenly Father.
How do we identify ourselves?
Whose children are we?
Under which government or power do we live by?
These are important stands that will help us navigate life in this world.
We need to know our true position, identity and power so that we can walk by them.
We have been called. Those who accepted the call have been sanctified, and those who have been sanctified are now qualified to live in the power of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Let us identify ourselves with Jesus, His work and with His promises.
Let us live assured of our true identity that we have received by grace.
Blessings
