James‬ ‭1‬:‭26‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“If anyone among you thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless.”

‭‭James‬ ‭1‬:‭26‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

James was talking about the hearers but not the doers of the word. He described them as like a man who sees himself but walks away, not knowing what he looks like.

Here, he continues to illustrate that thinking of being a religious person by just talking and observing rituals produces nothing and becomes unfruitful.

James uses the mirror to show us who we really are. Looking at the word of God reflects our true nature and what we are called to be.

It is no longer we who live but Christ in us. We need to learn to see Christ in us and not our carnal self.

The scripture says that greater is He that is in us than he who is in the world.

Therefore, we should not behold our carnal self but behold God who is in us.

This life that we have in Christ is not a religion but a lifestyle of a kingdom following the voice of our King.

Therefore, we must not get caught up in observing things. Instead, we should be caught up by living out Jesus daily.

Let us live out the One who is in us.

Let us live out His love, His power and His grace every day.

Blessings
