Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; Colossians 3:12 NKJV
We who are chosen by God through His Son Jesus Christ have a new identity and a new life. As an elect of God, we are holy. Therefore, holiness is part of our lifestyle. We are conscious of the holiness of God. We are to stand and live in the holiness of God which is by grace. We are not to function in the flesh. We have been empowered as His elect with God's tender mercies, God's kindness, God's humility, God's meekness and longsuffering. These gifts and characteristics of God need to be exercised daily in our lives. We need to be conscious of what we have received from the Lord in order for us to put it into practice. We need to be conscious that we have already received these blessings from the Lord. It's very important for us to understand and believe what we have received through Christ. We cannot give away what we don't have. But when we are confident with what we have received, then we can be confident to give freely what we have received. The key is to believe that we have got it from the Lord as a gift and God wants us to put into action. Let us live our lives through the holiness of God and display God's character through our lives.
