Matthew 18:19 NKJV
“Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.
Matthew 18:19 NKJV
This is one of the most misquoted scriptures that we use for prayer. The word " again" tells us that Jesus has not finished with the dealings of disciplinary actions that He was speaking about from verse 15.
Jesus is showing us what is the responsibility of His leaders in dealing with issues that will arise in the church. Jesus is assuring us that when two leaders come into agreement, Jesus said my Father will be in agreement with that judgement.
The agreement here firstly must be in alignment with God and for the purposes of His kingdom. It is not an agreement based on personal interests, likes or dislikes.
As much as grace is given to all mankind, there will be some that will refuse to change and bring a bad influence to the rest of the body.
Jesus gave power, authority and responsibility to God-centred leadership to dispel the bad influences from the community.
This gives us a picture that the kingdom of God is not just about us but it is about the King of kings and the Lord of lords. It is about following Jesus and following His ways.
As leaders of our own home, church, community, cities, states and nations, there are godly systems and principles that God has given for us to follow.
Let us support those who follow God and His ways. Let us take our responsibilities and be the person God has ordained us to be.
Blessings
