Hebrews‬ ‭12‬:‭5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons: “My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him;”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12‬:‭5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Many in the body of Christ do not understand what it means when we are corrected and rebuked and when our mistakes are made known.

Many have left churches, fellowship, and friendships because they were confronted of their mistakes.

The writer of Hebrews called the chastening of the Lord an exhortation.

When God chastens us, it is not to bring us down but to show us where we are and to point us to where we should be.

The writer shows clearly that the chastening and the Lord's rebuke are proof of His love toward us.

No loving father would see the child going on the road of destruction and do nothing about it.

A loving parent would confront and put boundaries to help the child to be free from that cycle.

Today, we live in a society that does not believe in rebuking and chastening and allowing them to be weak in their will and be trapped inwardly.

There are people more stressed out, with panic attacks, depression, and emotional breakdowns now than 30 to 50 years ago.

A rebuke and a chastening will help us to align our hearts and minds to reach our goals.

Each chastening has the power to raise us up to a better life, better knowledge, and a better understanding.

Don’t get caught up with the world and its ways.

Get caught up with the ways of God.

Bring correction to those who are under our care. It is easy to walk away from it and say let it take its cause.

Bringing correction may hurt the parents now but it gives them a lasting joy to see their children strengthened.

Let us continue to be teachable, yielded, and willing to take corrections, rebuke, and chastening for it will exhort us to a better character and life in Christ.

Blessings
