Psalms 1:1 NKJV
“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful;”
Psalms 1:1 NKJV
The word of God tells us that blessed will be the man who does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly.
The ungodly can only give counsel that is of the world. These are counsels which are limited, shortsighted, and always changing when values in the world change.
But those who walk in godly counsel, walk with the wisdom that created the world. They walk with the blueprint of life, knowing their identity and purpose in life.
The godly do not change their values when things in the world change but they change the world by bringing in the things of the world in alignment with God’s plan and purpose.
Who we surround ourselves with will affect our thinking, feeling, and our lifestyle.
Standing in the path of sinners is just a preparation to sin. To stand in the path of the righteous is to prepare to live a righteous life in Christ.
We need to choose to stand on the path which is the word of God to live in the blessing. God’s word will be the light to our path.
Sitting in the seat of scoffers. These are initiators of evil things. A place where they call evil good and good evil.
To have ourselves surrounded by scoffers will bring doubt and unbelief toward God and His word.
Psalm 1:1 is basically giving us all the advice to choose rightly our circle of friends. Friends that will put God first.
We can effectively reach the world if we have core friends that believe in God and His truth.
Let us continue to live in the blessings of God by choosing rightly who we surround ourselves with.
Blessings
