Psalms 78:42 NKJV
“They did not remember His power: The day when He redeemed them from the enemy,”
Psalms 78:42 NKJV
The psalmist spoke of the things the Israelites did that grieved God. One of them is they did not remember His power.
The Israelites saw some of the amazing power, protection and provision mankind has ever seen.
Though the Israelites experienced all that amazing miracles yet they did not remember the power of their God.
Why is that?
The Israelites' mindset are shaped around survival, as all of them that God brought out of Egypt were born as slaves.
The slave mentality is all about survival. Do what you need to do to put food on the table and get what you need to get to survive another day.
They beg for food and rations, get punished for speaking out just to remind their master of the need for food.
The hardest thing for God to do for the Israelites is to change their hearts and minds.
The did not remember the God who callef them His children but rather they kept living life like a slave begging for the next meal.
The generation perished because they were not able to come out of their slave mentality.
They could not come out of their identity as slaves even though God has delivered them from slavery.
God told the new breed of people and worked on their mindset. God told Joshua to meditate on God’s word day and night.
That’s when they begin to see their God and His promises even though giants were right before them.
When our mindset and our hearts change according to God’s word, then we will see God’s provision in the midst of a famine.
When we meditate on God’s word and see His greatness, then we will see rivers in the desert, healings in the midst of sickness and blessings of God everyday.
To remember God and His works is the key to change our minds. Meditating on His promises will help us see who we are in God.
Let us continue to grow in our gratitude towards God. Rehearsing all that God has done, speak His word and live by it daily.
Blessings
