Luke‬ ‭1:14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth.”

The angel of the Lord spoke to Zacharias that He will have a son in his old age and that his son will bring such joy to many people. This is because John the Baptist was sent by God to prepare the way for Jesus to establish the kingdom of God here on earth.

John the Baptist has helped many people to be ready for Jesus. John was sent by God to teach repentance and forgiveness of sins. His ministry caught the attention of people from all walks of life including Herod the king.

Jesus said that John the Baptist is the least in the kingdom of God, which means that every one of us who believes in Jesus is greater than John. As John prepared the way for the Lord Jesus to begin His ministry, how much more should we who are ordained by God to do mighty works in and through Him.

If John had a powerful ministry, how much more do we who are greater than John should be living and ministering in the power of His Spirit. We need to believe that we all have an assignment and responsibilities and that we are anointed to serve God in our community.

We need to understand that we are an ambassador of the Kingdom of God and need to do His will. Every single thing that we do today will affect the next generation.

Therefore, let us take hold of the truth and make disciples of all nations.
