“When Jesus heard these things, He marveled at him, and turned around and said to the crowd that followed Him, “I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!”

Jesus marveled at the Centurion’s faith and said, " I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel."

The centurion’s faith was based on a law that he was accustomed to. For when a word is spoken in authority, the people have to follow. It would be a violation and punishable if it is not obeyed.

He recognised, believed and was certain in the power that Jesus carried. The Centurion accredited Jesus as One who has the power to heal.

Therefore, the Centurion had absolute faith that the person will immediately receive healing the moment Jesus commands.

The faith of the Centurion caused Jesus to marvel when the Centurion displayed confidence, trust and hope in Jesus.

Often we speak of the faith we need to have by building ourselves up in prayer, fasting and meditation. But here we see that the faith is not resting in man but in the Divine power of God and in who He is.

Faith is about having absolute trust in God, in His power and in His might to deliver us from every form of evil.

Let us put our confidence, trust and faith in Christ.

Let us believe that through Christ we can speak His word, follow His ways and see the breakthroughs in our lives.
