Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ”

The devil took Jesus and showed Him what he can offer because the world was under the influence of the devil.

Everything that the devil offers may look good but it is with an expiry date that will explode like a timed bomb by stealing, eventually killing and destroying.

Jesus was able to reject the offer of the devil because He knew who He is. He is the Son of the living God. Jesus as a man, born in the flesh, yet He is accepted and adopted by the Father in Heaven as His own beloved Son.

Jesus knew that He became One with the Father and One with the Holy Spirit.

This means He inherits all that is of His Father.

With that Jesus is not tricked by the devil into getting something He already gained as a gift from His Father.

All the devil was trying to do is to entice Jesus to take the bait that looks like joy, peace, love, wisdom, knowledge, self-control, righteousness and so on.

Jesus knew what He had received from His Father.

Do we know what is ours through Christ our Lord?

If we know, we will not fall into the trap of desiring to gain something we already have in Christ.

Often we think we lack in something because we are looking at temporal things or looking through the standards of the world.

We have been redeemed and have been filled with the fullness of God in our spirit. Therefore, we can develop all that God has given and enjoy all the abundance of His kingdom.

We must not fall into the deception of the enemy to gain something we already have in Christ. There is nothing the devil can offer us that is good and there is nothing the devil can give that is true or eternal.

Let us keep seeing ourselves as the ones who have received from Jesus, grace upon grace, favour upon favour and live God's kingdom in us.
