II Peter 1:5 NKJV

But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge,

II Peter 1:5 NKJV

Peter speaks of God's glorious life, power and love that has been deposited in every believer. All things pertaining to life and godliness has been given unto us.

With this in mind, the Apostle Peter encourages the believers to be diligent in all that they have received.

This is because every key has the ability to unlock the door but if we don't use it, the doors of opportunity will remain closed.

All that Jesus has given to the church will not be useful if it is not being used. We can pray and we should, we can fast and that is good too but if it does not move us to do what God has told us to do then we become unproductive.

The Apostle Peter also tells us to add to our faith virtue. Virtue speaks of beliefs that propel us to do what we believe with strength and power.

Virtue is a pratical attitude, behaviour and habit adopted in obedience to the principle we believe in.

Just as much as we give attention to pursue our faith with strong persistence, we also pursue with persistence our knowledge of God by knowing Him.

After receiving all from Jesus, it comes down to what we do with it. If it just ends with thanksgiving, praise and no actual use of all that Jesus has put into our lives then we are missing the bigger picture God intended for each one of us.

God made us like Him so that we can be Him to one another.

Blessings
