“Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations—”

From the beginning, the religious leaders and people took pride in observing rituals.

If they have no rituals to follow, they have nothing to boast about.

That’s how the system works in this world. If we can show off our worthiness by doing something or having something, then we will be lifted up in the world.

Believers were using this system in the church and Paul had to address the situation and told them don’t follow the system of the world.

We are not called to live by observation but to live out all that Christ has put in us.

This principle of the world and its ways have died in Christ so we should no longer think like it or operate like it but by the principles of God.

The word regulations here means dogmatizes in Greek which means decrees, submitting to ordinance.

If we live by ordinances, we will continue to live in the shadow but if we live by the Word and spirit of God, we will live out Christ.

If we live out Christ, Christ gets all the glory. If we live out the ordinances, man gets the glory of how they are diligently keeping them.

Living in the Spirit of God and in all that Christ has done will shine forth God’s glory and power.

Let us put away every ways of the world and start living out God’s kingdom that is within us.
