“Now behold, one came and said to Him, “Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?”

This rich young ruler asked Jesus this question and in the end, he went away sad because he could not do what was required by his own works.

We know how the story ends but sometimes we forget that everything that happened was to answer the question the young ruler asked.

Jesus simply made a point that no one, not only this young rich ruler but no one can work their way to inherit eternal life.

No one in the past has succeeded, no one has done it today and no one will ever be able to have eternal life by their own works.

The narrow way is the only way and it is speaking about Jesus. Jesus is speaking about the way He will make for all to have eternal life.

Every gift of God cannot be earned because it only can be given by God.

We as believers in Christ Jesus have received all the gifts and blessings of His kingdom.

All we have to do is start living in them and start changing our old ways to God’s way.

This young rich ruler was a good man.

He gave, he helped and followed to be good but was disappointed when he knew that all that he gave could not earn him eternal life.

No matter how good we are, we cannot earn eternal life. But the good news is we can have eternal life through Jesus Christ.

What was impossible to have, God gave it to us through His Son.

Let us humbly receive what Christ has done and praise Him for the life we have received from Him.
