John 1:24 NKJV
“Now those who were sent were from the Pharisees.”
John 1:24 NKJV
The Pharisees sent their people to spy on the works of John the Baptist and to ask John questions about the work that he was doing.
The Pharisees knew the scriptures about the one crying in the wilderness. Therefore, they can see the evidence of the scriptures being fulfilled.
The Pharisees also knew and heard about Jesus and the evidence of scriptures being fulfilled.
Yet the religious spirit has blinded them not to accept Jesus as their Messiah as the scriptures have revealed.
The religious spirit will blind the people from the truth, the very promise that they were waiting, believing and teaching.
Though the promises were manifested before them, instead of receiving Jesus, they crucified Him.
One of the things we must be aware of is don’t judge people who are doing the works of God.
We will become like Pharisees and judge their good works and bring blindness to ourselves if we have a judgmental attitude.
But let us live life in the resurrection power of Christ and keep on doing what Christ has commanded.
The Pharisees had a good intention to protect their religion but their good intentions have crucified the One they were waiting for.
We who live in Christ see differently, think differently and do differently as the Holy Spirit leads.
This is why it is so important to walk in the spirit and not with our own understanding.
Christ has equipped us with the gifts and fruit of the Holy Spirit.
Let us all live as the children of God, walking in the spirit and fulfilling our assignments here on earth.
Blessings
