Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

This is a powerful message for believers in Christ that we should live as Christ lived here on earth; in the perfect image of God and to display Him to the world.

This is possible as a new covenant believer because Christ has made the resources available to us.

This life in Christ can only be lived through His promises. His promises are life that shapes our mind and heart to be conformed to His image.

The life in Christ cannot be lived in any other way except through Christ Our Lord. It is to be lived through all that Jesus has accomplished for us.

Living with the knowledge that Christ is in us is to understand what it means to have the Creator of the world living in us.

And to understand what Christ has already done and has given for us so that we will not live in ignorant of the resource we already have.

The story of the prodigal son is the story of a son coming back to the father after being lost and the father's love always waiting for the return of the son.

But the older son was in the house with the father was ignorant of what belongs to the father belongs to him.

We as sons of God need to discover what we already have received from our Father in heaven so that we don't talk like we don't have the answer, so that we don't keep asking God for things we already received and so that we don't try to earn what God has given to us freely.

This is the new life in Christ that is to live through all that Christ has done for us which is perfect and holy.
