I Corinthians 6:12 NKJV
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. I Corinthians 6:12 NKJV
Paul uses this illustration to speak to a group of people that are twisted with their own interest and use God's word to justify themselves. Law and order are only good when it is applied for the hope of restoration and to help to protect the interest of everyone. When grace and favour are applied in a self-centered way, then true love is being voided. The grace and favour of God are to propel us closer, stronger and be united in Christ Jesus. The liberty in Christ is now an excuse for misbehaviour or living a life fulfilling the lust of the flesh. The grace of God is powerful and has the power to liberate people from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of God. With power comes responsibility. We are to be responsible to stay in Christ Jesus. To stay in all He has done for us and not start our own way of life. Freedom in Christ is not a licence to do whatever we want. Freedom in Christ is having the liberty and power to become all that God has created us for. Therefore, we need to look into the law of liberty for its purpose is to help, to encourage and to build each other to grow in the power and love of God. Blessings Ambrose Francis
