‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭14‬:‭39‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“Therefore, brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak with tongues.”

‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭14‬:‭39‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Paul taught the church to bring order and direction that will edify one another.

Here in this chapter, Paul speaks of prophecies and tongues.

Two clear points that Paul makes is that prophecies are to edify people. Tongues are to edify self and to communicate with God.

We don’t communicate with one another with tongues unless someone interprets it.

In a worship service where our adoration, praise and worship is unto the Lord, we can worship in tongues.

When we are sharing the word of God to communicate, we speak in understanding.

When one is prophesying to the church in tongues, it is to communicate something that needs to be interpreted.

Paul is not teaching one gift is greater than the other or to forbid them to operate in certain gifts but to bring order so that all can be edified in the body.

When communication is needed, prophecy is preferred. Worshiping the Lord in tongues is preferred as it comes from the depths of our hearts, undefiled unto the Lord.

The first church was birthed on the day of Pentecost, all that gathered spoke in tongues and the unbelievers gathered.

But Peter spoke the message in understanding and multitudes came to receive Jesus as Lord.

Let us unite each other with the gifts and stand as a strong voice to the world.

Blessing
